Tips on how to get out of a "funk".




We all go through highs and lows in life and just as the highs are important, so are the lows. As a social media society we are sometimes pressured to only show our best days and act like everything is perfect. We have to remember to be real with ourselves and show up for ourselves. Here are some of the things I do to get out of a "funk" and go back to feeling like myself again.


Practice gratitude: When we focus on the bad, our attitude usually follows. Try to focus on the good things going on in your life. I know it's hard sometimes but trust me there is always something to be grateful for. If you can't really think of anything to be grateful for let's start off with the fact that you have sight to read this and the fact that your are still breathing. :)


Pray and meditate: When you are connected to a higher source, your problems tend to feel small. You feel like you're not doing life alone and have all the spiritual reinforcement you need to get through anything. For me it's God, I believe in God and I feel my best when I am consciously seeking and following Jesus. I start to realize that if I am feeling a bit off or in a funk it's because I ceased praying. I mediate in his word and all the love and goodness he is. It's good to get back into your faith, you could never stray too far from God, his love is big and unconditional.


Write down and get aligned with your goals/plans: Have you ever gone to the grocery store without a list? I have and it's bad lol, I end up buying stuff I didn't even need and spend double of what I was supposed to. The same happens when you don't write down your goals and plans. You end up just going through life doing unnecessary stuff that might not benefit you. When you get clear on what you want, set goals and plans to back them up. You won't waste time because now you know what you have to do in order to get what you want. Sometimes we get into a funk because we don't know what we are doing in life. If you don't know what to do or what goals to set, get aligned with your higher source and ask. Think about the person you want to be in a couple of years from now and what you need to do to become that person and start showing up as her/him.


Show yourself some love: I cannot stress how self-care is so important! Practice it often, self-care looks different for everyone, so do what makes you feel your best. I love to do something for myself like a haircut, lashes or get my brows done. I also like to snuggle up with a blanket and nice tea or coffee and binge a good show/movie. Shopping is also on my list lol, I will shop till I drop then maybe even hit the gym. It really depends on what my body is asking for. So either get rest or get active. Listen to your body, mind and soul.


Funks are necessary yes you read that right! They show us that we have to realign ourselves, set goals or set NEW goals. Sometimes they happen in order for us to take a break. We work so hard sometimes that we don't give ourselves time to unwind and practice self-care. Remember to show some love to yourself. It will pass. <3
